An inner frame is attached to the outer frame by a fitting which can function either as a hinge or as a lock. The fitting consists of two small plates (3,4) which can be made to suit either a right hand or left hand installation. The rectangular plate (3), which is attached by screws through holes (10) to one of the frames, has a horizontal lug (7) with a central slot (8) near one edge. The other rectangular plate (4), which is attached to the second frame, has a recess (16) bounded by a ledge which receives a hinge pin (5). This hinge pin fits in the hole (9) in the lug (7) of the oother plate (3). The fitting can be used as a lock by replacing the hinge pin (5) with a removable bolt.
