The formats and data standards of the digital media (22) are transformed by means of a program to be compatible with a video reader of the multi-media system and a data reader of a computer. An elementary sequence of a printed book (20) comprises: (a) two pages one of text (24) and one of images (26). The text page can be divided into paragraphs or parts, each of which corresponds to an image on the adjacent image page. The system includes a multi-media book comprising a paper book and at least a digital data support (disk, CD ROM,DVD), as well as video and computer. The system includes: (a) a printed book (20) systematically arranged in elementary sequences composed of text (24) and image (26), each identified by a number sequence (28); digital media which is a storage module (22) for the books data and sound to enrich the image or text, and; a multi-media system or computer permitting image and sound and eventually text restitution by selection from a remote control of the video reader or from a menu on the computer, either (a) an elementary sequence as a function of the corresponding selectable number, or (b) a slide show (23, 25, 27, 29) comprising continuous display of all the elementary sequences.
