The system includes an arm member for handling articles to be moved and placed in given positions and a sensor for determining the amount of work done by the arm member. An ALU performs a given operation based on the determined amount of work and is taught by a teaching unit to sense the amount of work done. A setting unit is connected to the ALU for setting a spacing interval between one operation target position of the arm member and another operation target position. Another setting unit is connected to the ALU for setting the number of operations performed repeatedly by the arm member.
