摘要 PURPOSE:To control the damping force always appropriately, to enhance the drive comfortability and the treading property, by extracting the resonant fre quency band components of springing and nonspringing sections in accordance with signals indicating acceleration of a vehicle body, and by controlling the damping force of a damper in accordance with the result of comparison between these components and a reference value. CONSTITUTION:A control device is composed of a signal detecting section I such as a sensor or the like attached to a vehicle body, a controller II for processing signals, an actuator III for converting an electric signal into mechanical motion and a damper IV disposed between a vehicle body and an axle. For example, signal components around resonant frequencies of springing and nonspringing sections are extracted from the output of an accelometer for detecting vertical acceleration of the springing part of the vehicle body, or from two resonant sensors respectively having frequency characteristics with the above-mentioned both resonant frequencies. Further, the component values thereof are compared with reference values, respectively, and if at least one of them is higher than the associated reference value, a signal for increasing the damping force is delivered.
