PURPOSE: A method for updating local network IP addresses in a mobile switching system is provided to modify and update local network IP address using PLD(Programmable Loading Data) among the packet data transmitted to upper/lower layer systems so as to easily modify network IP addresses even though a mobile switching system does not have a domain server or a router function. CONSTITUTION: A CCP(Call Control Processor) downloads an operating system, a protocol program and other application programs from a BSM(Base Station Manager) and reboots them. In case that a modification for a network configuration element is required, the CCP updates the element after revising/modifying it(S1,S2). Then the CCP judges whether the network elements of the presently downloaded routing table and host table are newly configured(S3). If a newly configured network element exists, the CCP downloads new network configuration element information from the BSM using PLD(S5). The CCP updates the existing routing table and host table through the downloaded new network configuration element information, and modifies a network configuration value according to this new information(S6). Then the CCP resets up a network environment using the presently revised/modified network configuration element information(S7).
