摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a clear image having excellent gradation, by applying heat onto a plurality of types of thermally fusible ink layers having different gradation according to the density of a document. CONSTITUTION:Ink layers A having low gradation and ink layers B having high gradation are arranged alternately on one supporting material 1 so as to obtain a high print density through the ink layers A and a low print density through the ink layers B. At first, a thermal transfer recording medium 1-B is driven at a rate of 0.25W/dot, for example, so as to make a low density printing by varying the width of pulse being applied onto a thermal head (gradation characteristic curve B), then the printing position of 4ms pulse on the thermal transfer recording medium 1-B is aligned with the printing position of 1ms pulse on a thermal transfer recording medium 1-A and printed (gradation characteristic curve A) thereafter they are combined to produce a gradation characteristic curve C. When two types of recording media are employed, a characteristic curve smaller to an ideal one can be obtained.
