PURPOSE:To relieve the restriction on the projection conditions of laser light and to permit stable recording by forming a material which is transparent to the laser light and has excellent heat resistance and high heat conductivity on at least one face of a recording layer in contact therewith. CONSTITUTION:This recording carrier contains the recording layer which records or erases signals by projection of light, a thermal diffusion layer which is formed on at least one face of the recording layer is contact therewith and consists of carbon or essentially of carbon and a conductive light transmittable layer which is formed on the surface of the thermal diffusion layer on the side opposite from the surface in contact with the recording layer in contact therewith. the optical disk exhibits high light transmittance to the laser light and heat resistance and has the high heat conductivity if a diamond-like carbon film or diamond film is used as the thermal diffusion layer of the disk. For example, the heat is quickly diffused after the recording layer material which is in a crystal phase is irradiated with the laser light for a short period and is melted at the time of recording; therefore, the recording layer material is cooled in the substantially short period and since the material transforms from the crystal to amorphous phase, the recording of the signal is satisfactorily executed. |
