PURPOSE:To enable a pressing force of a thermal head with two rows of thermal element array on recording paper to be decreased in printing by providing two pieces of thermal head chip which form a single row of thermal elements on the thermal head and arranging so that the formed surface of the thermal element array may form a prearranged angle with the printing surface of recording paper. CONSTITUTION:Thermal elements 1a, 1b are formed on individual chips 2a, 2b by a film forming method. The chip 2a, 2b are adhered to a heat radiation plate 3 with an adhesive in such a manner that the formed surface of the thermal element may form an angle theta with the printing surface of recording paper P. Under this constitution, the pressure contact part even of a thermal head having two rows of thermal elements to the recording paper P can be minimized. Consequently the thermal head can be pressed to the recording paper P with a less pressing force. The limits of decreasing the pressing force of the thermal head depends on the magnitude of the angle theta, that is, the larger the angle theta is, the less will be the pressing force. This angle theta is determined in accordance with the position of the thermal element array on the chip. |
