The invention relates to a process for controlled application of liquor, such as low-viscosity chemical dispersions or chemical solutions or dyestuffs or the like, to running fabric webs, and is intended, along with a uniform distribution of the liquor on and in the fabric web, to limit the moisture content of the fabric web during treatment to 15% or less. For this purpose, it is proposed, according to the invention, first to feed the liquor in excess to an absorbent carrier material, subsequently to adjust it in a specific manner on the carrier material by the controlled removal of part of this liquor, and thereupon to bring the carrier material having the adjusted liquor content together with the fabric web, a specific part of the liquor then being transferred from the carrier material onto the fabric web by the controlled pressing of the carrier material together with the fabric web.
