Undesired liq. droplets and solid particles are removed from air rising towards a ceiling on encountering a number of identical parallel units suspended side by side below the ceiling. Each unit has an elongated sheet metal or plastic strip of curved cross-section, tapering towards the ceiling. The strip, whose ends are welded to vertical cross-supports, has its outer edges turned up to form Vee flanges. Some distance below the approaching but not contacting Vee flanges of two adjacent strips is a common channel for collecting dripping condensate, and with its ends clipped to the cross-supports. Above the strip edges of an adjacent pair are air guide plates in the form of inverted troughs, or pairs of facing strips with rounded channels. Guide plates are also clipped to cross-supports. Moving air undergoes rapid succession of compacting eddy zones each followed by damping zones of increasing capacity wherein liq. or solid particles deposit. |
