<p>A composite beam molded under compression and intended as a blank for a ski or the like structure, said beam having a support fabric (9) extending between upper and lower surface reinforcements (10, 11). The core member (2) consists of a synthetic material the compressibility of which is smaller in one direction than in the other directions. The structure is manufactured by preforming the core blank (2) from at least partly hardened foam plastic, positioning a surface material (10, 11, 12) over and/or under the core (2), and optionally surrounding these by further auxiliary layers (14, 15). The composite assembly thus formed is placed in a mold (3, 4), the closed extension of which is smaller than respective extension of the assembly. The mold is compressed around the assembly, and the basic material of the core blank (2) and/or a separate adhesive is reacted to soften and/or bind the foam plastic of the core (2) in such a way that an integral connection is formed betwen the core (2) and any auxiliary layers (9, 10, 11, 12) and providing the blank with the permanent cross-section defined by a mold (3, 4).</p> |
