PURPOSE:To enable a hydrogen-absorptive alloy electrode to display excellent electrode performance by sintering a Ni-Ti type alloy powder compact at temperatures between 1000 deg.C or more and 1200 deg.C or less so that structure in the sintered compact is effectively improved. CONSTITUTION:By sintering a Ni-Ti type alloy powder compact or a Ni and Ti metal powder mixture compact in a range of 1000-1200 deg.C, a TiNi alloy is formed as a matrix phase, wherein a sintered compact including two phases of (TiNi+Ti2Ni) with a configuration of precipitated Ti2Ni is obtained. Accordingly, two phases of (TiNi+Ti2Ni) are mixingly in a sintered body which constitutes a hydrogen-absorptive alloy electrode. With the existence of Ti2Ni among them, hydrogen-absorptive performance of the electrode is effectively improved and an efficient improvement of the electrode characteristics such as discharge properties is attained. |
