Homopolymers and copolymers of propylene are prepared using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system comprising (1) a titanium component, optionally on a support, comprising titanium, magnesium, chlorine, a phthalic acid derivative and optionally other constituents, (2) an alkyl aluminium compound and (3) a silicon compound as cocatalyst, and are characterised in that (3) is a silicon compound of the composition (C2n-1H4n-1)xSi(OR)4-x in which R is a hydrocarbon radical, n is from 1 to 5 and x is from 1 to 3. |
