The push-button switch (10) proposed here comprises a housing (11), an attachment (12) for fastening the push-button switch, and a push-button plunger (13) which can be displaced essentially in the axial direction from an outer limit position (14) into the housing (11) as far as an inner limit position (15) and out of this limit position. In order to be able to use such a push-button switch (10) without any special and costly additional measures as a door switch, for example in motor vehicles, it is proposed that the axial stroke of the push-button plunger (13) be constructed to be long and be designed such that the switch contact (16, 17) which is arranged within the housing (11) is interrupted essentially immediately after the displacement of the push-button plunger (13) out of its outer limit position (14). The push-button switch (10) is held in the interrupted state irrespective of the stroke positions which follow this in the movement direction of the inner limit position (15). <IMAGE>
