In a method of controlling a face-conveyor partial anchorage, the clamping cylinders and support props of which can be acted upon by control valves with hydraulic pressure medium, the bracing of the conveyor by the bracing cylinder being automatically carried out only when a predetermined setting pressure in the support props is reached, provision is made according to the invention for the support shield to be withdrawn in a first step, in the course of which the support props and the clamping cylinder acting with its piston rod at an acute angle on the conveyor become pressureless, for the advancing cylinder of the shield and the annular area of the clamping cylinder to be acted upon by pressure medium in a second step, as a result of which the shield is pulled to the conveyor by means of both cylinders, and for the shield to be set again in a third step by pressure medium being admitted to the props and, after the predetermined setting pressure is reached via a non-return valve, the piston area of the clamping cylinder as well as the resetting device.
