Baling press for pressing in particular office and packaging waste having a pressing container with a filling flap, a device which exerts a dampened opening force on the latter, a lock which keeps the filling flap closed against the opening force, and a motor-driven pressure ram. An unlocking device is provided which is operatively connected to the lock and has a driver which projects into the path of the pressure ram, and the said driver or the pressure ram and/or a part connected to it is arranged and designed so as to be flexible in such a way that the driver is not actuated by the pressure ram moving in the pressing direction, while the said driver is moved in the unlocking direction of the lock by means of the pressure ram moving in the opposite direction to the pressing direction or by means of a part which is connected to the said pressure ram, the filling flap being opened as a result.
