<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an optical coupling element having high photodetecting efficiency by narrowing an interval between a photodetector and a light emitting element by providing a bump at either one of the photodetector and the light emitting element, providing a pad for the bump at the other, and thermally press-bonding the bump to the pad for the bump. CONSTITUTION:A bump 2 is provided on either a photodetector 3 or a light emitting element 1, a pad 4 for the bump is provided on the other, and the bump 2 is thermally press-bonded to the pad 4 for the bump. For example, a plurality of bumps 2 are provided on the element 1 having a light emitting unit 1a, and the pad 4 is formed on the photodetector 3 to oppose to the bump 2. The thus formed element 1 and photodetector 3 are so disposed as to oppose the bump 2 to the pad 4, and bonded by thermally press-bonding. Thereafter, the pads 5, 6 for wire bonding the photodetector to the light emitting element formed on the photodetector 3 are wire bonded to external leads 7, 8 to be electrically connected. The light passage is sealed with transparent resin 9, and the outside is sealed with an opaque resin 10.</p> |
