The invention concerns a breathing mask with dust protector. The breathing mask includes a face piece 12 made of a rubber-like material, inhalation and exhalation valves 34, 26 connected to the face piece, and a filter cartridge 44 through which air can be inhaled into the face piece. To reduce the weight of the breathing mask and to improve the operating characteristics of the filter, the inhalation and exhalation valves have been combined with each other to form an undivided unit and have been placed in a concentric series with the annular inhalation valve 34 placed radially outside and concentric to the exhalation valve 26. The inhalation valve communicates with an essentially laminar filter unit which is supported by the valve part and extends laterally from the axis of the concentric valve series. <IMAGE>
