The shell type milling cutter and its mounting method have a shell type milling cutter (1) with a tapered setting hole (1a) and key slots (1c). A tapered bush (2) split vertically into halves is pushed into the tapered setting hole (1a) by means of tie bolt (4) which screws into the fitting shaft (3a) of the milling head arbor (3) engaging its keys (3c) in key slots (1c). This arrangement increases contact area between cutter and arbor facilitating secure setting and permitting higher milling speeds approaching those of the solid type milling cutter. |
