PURPOSE:To obtain the titled weakly acidic cosmetic having improved stability and utility, by blending a cosmetic with a specific weakly acidic montmorillonite clay minerals having improved gelatinizing ability in a weakly acidic range. CONSTITUTION:A weakly acidic cosmetic is blended with 0.1-30wt% montmorilonite clay minerals which show weak acidity (e.g. 2% aqueous suspension has pH 3.5-7.0) in its aqueous suspension, <=50ml/2g swelling power and preferably further >=70mg equivalent/100g cation exchange ability to give a weakly acidic cosmetic. The cosmetic makes the most of various characteristics such as adsorbing power, bonding power, adhesion powder, suspending power, plasticity imparting power, swelling power, etc., of montmorillonite clay minerals because the weakly acidic montmorilonite clay minerals show stable gelatinizing ability and swelling power in a weakly acidic range and exhibit stable swelling powder and pH value with time. The cosmetic has also improved stability and utility. |
