PURPOSE:To improve recording and reproducing efficiency by consisting at least either of an upper magnetic layer and lower magnetic layer of a Co amorphous alloy film and forming at least either of the upper and lower layers of the amorphous alloy film of a metallic or alloy film. CONSTITUTION:The upper and lower magnetic layers 1, 2 are formed by the Co-Ta-Zr amorphous alloy films by a sputtering method to about 1mum film thickness. The underlying metallic layer 7 of the upper magnetic layer and the metallic layer 8 which is the upper layer of the lower magnetic layer are formed of Cr films by a sputtering method and the film thickness thereof is varied in a range from 20Angstrom up to 1,000Angstrom . A gap layer 3 is formed of SiO2, and insulating layer 4 of PIQ, a substrate 5 of ZrO2 and a coil 6 of copper. The contact in the rear part of both the upper and lower magnetic layers is executed through the metallic layers 7, 8; therefore, the sum of the thicknesses of the Cr films provided on both the upper and lower magnetic layers is the gap length in the contact part of the rear part. No problems are posed in working process even if the Co amorphous alloy having high magnetic permeability is used as a magnetic pole material; therefore, the thin film magnetic head having excellent recording capacity is obtd. at a high yield. |
