PURPOSE:To reduce metal ion transmission, increase voltage efficiency and Coulomb efficiency, and improve durability by having a specific chain aliphatic compound and a pyrrole compound polymer coexist on one side of a positive ion exchange membrance. CONSTITUTION:A chain aliphatic compound of carbon number between 6 and 30 and a pyrrole compound polymer are made to coexist on at least one side of a positive ion exchange membrance. This results in a diaphragm with higher Coulomb efficiency in particular and superior durability too, compared with a diaphragm having individually either a chain aliphatic compound of carbon number between 6 and 30 or a pyrrole compound polymer. Besides, transmission of metal irons such as those of chromium and iron can be reduced without causing an increase of membrance resistance, and Coulomb efficiency can be increased in addition, by the reaction of the aliphatic compound, in the range of more than in general, 200Angstrom on one side of the membrance and less than 1/3 of the membrance thickness. |
