Cutlery sharpening method and apparatus for sharpening a cutlery blade edge wherein the blade edge to be sharpened is pivoted into and yieldingly moved along a blade sharpening surface when moved in one direction and pivoted out of and moved above the blade sharpening surface when moved in an opposite direction.
