NEW MATERIAL:An alkaloid compound expressed by formula I (X is H, OH or acetoxy; Y if formula II or III). USE:A medicine and bacterial inhibitor capable of exhibiting improved activity inhibitory action on Gram-positive bacteria, e.g. Staphylococcus aureus or Bacillus subtilis. PREPARATION:Sponge which is a product of OKINAWA, etc., is crushed, homogenized and extracted with a solvent, e.g. ethanol, etc., at room temperature, purified and isolated by column chromatography to give a compound expressed by formula I (X is H and Y is formula II or X is OH and Y is formula III), which is then acetylated in the presence of acetic anhydride and triethylamine in a solvent, e.g. chloroform, etc., to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I (X is OCH3 and Y is formula II). |
