METHOD OF CONTROLLING SCALE IN PRESSURISED BOILERS The formation of scale in aqueous pressurised boiler systems is inhibited by the addition of a copolymer of maleic acid or anhydride or fumaric acid and allyl or vinyl sulphonic acid or a water soluble salt thereof. These copolymers have the great advantage that they actually cause the removal of existing scale in such pressurised boiler systems and may be added in combination with a water soluble, hardness precipitating agent such as a carbonate or phosphate.
