PURPOSE:To obtain plating having high adhesion and a clear and stable color tone by forming a layer of a mixture of TiN or TaC with a wet platable metal on the surface of a base material by ion plating and by carrying out wet plating. CONSTITUTION:TiN, TaC or equal amounts of TiN and TaC are ion plated on the surface of a base material and one or more kinds of wet platable metals such as Ag, Cu, Cr, Ru, Pd, Pt, Au, Ni, In, Zn, Co and Rh are ion plated on the colored metal to form a layer of a mixture of the colored metal with the wet platable metals. Noble metal plating is then carried out on the surface of the mixture layer by wet plating. Thus, corrosion and wear resistant plating having high adhesion and a clear color tone is obtd. |
