PURPOSE:To improve the transmission efficiency of the rotating force by engaging a worm and a worm wheel via balls circulated in a ball transfer holding section and a ball shifting section in an accelerating/decelerating device constituted of the worm and the worm wheel. CONSTITUTION:An accelerating/decelerating device is constituted of a worm 11 and a worm wheel 12. The worm 11 has a ball transfer holding section 16, a ball shifting section 17, and many balls 18 circulably filled as a ball train in the ball transfer holding section 16 and the ball shifting section 17. When the worm 11 is driven as the motive side, the balls 18 are engaged with engaging teeth 21 of the worm wheel 12 while the balls 18 of the worm 11 are moved in circulation, thereby the worm wheel 12 can be rotated in a decelerated state as compared with the worm 11. On the other hand, when the worm wheel 12 is driven as the motive side, the balls 18 are engaged with the engaging teeth 21 while the balls 18 are moved in circulation, thereby the worm 11 can be rotated in an accelerated state. |
