<p>The system has a reciprocating internal-combustion engine (1), coupled to the ship's propellor (4), and operating on the diesel principle, for propulsion. The electrical generator (13) takes its input drive energy from the reciprocating internal-combustion engine (1), and namely via a shaft power gas turbine (7) which is coupled via a reduction gear (12) to the generator and on the inlet side is connected to the exhaust system (5). A speed governor device (18, 19) having a frequency convertor (15) and an electric motor (16) coupled to the generator (13), is used for regulating the frequency of the generator. This system significantly improves the efficiency of power transmission from the reciprocating internal-combustion engine to the on-board network. <IMAGE></p> |
