An image signal processing apparatus and an image signal processing method are provided to prevent video data from being erroneously deleted by confirming display of video data and then deleting the video data. An image signal processing apparatus includes a video data generator, a display, and a controller. The video data generator generates first reproduced video data and second reproduced video data obtained by performing a predetermined process on original video data or the first reproduced video data and displayed in a different display form from a display form in case of general reproduction. The display selectively displays the first reproduced video data and the second reproduced video data. The controller displays the first reproduced video data on the display and controls the original video data to be deletable when receiving a deletion instruction while the second reproduced video data is displayed on the display.
