PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp and high-density transfer image even on a plain paper used as a paper to be transferred, by containing a specific polyester resin as a hot-melt binder. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording medium is formed, by a method wherein binder components containing a polyester resin and a coloring material are melted and mixed or alternatively dissolved or dispersed together with various additives, if necessary, in an appropriate solvent, and the obtained material is coated on a substrate. The polyester resin in use has 18-260 hydroxyl value. If the hydroxyl value is less than 18, an image is tansferred without sharpness; if more than 260, the possibility of ground foulings in a transferred image is increased and the shelf stability is deteriorated. The polyester resin contained 90-100 wt% in the hot-melt binder is a reaction product of dicarboxylic acid components and glycol components, and an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid is contained 100-70 mol% in the dicarboxylic acid components. |
