The feed chain comprises support plates (1, 8) of moulded plastics material. The plates have an upper plane face (2) with integral snap-fit parts (3) on the lower face. These parts dip onto the transverse assembly spindle (5) of the links of one of the two parallel drive chains (6, 7). Some of the plates have other snap-fit parts (9) on their upper face. These parts are perpendicular to the snap-fit parts on the lower face. These upper parts cooperate with complementary snap-fit projections (13) on the outer side (12) of the godet (11).
