PURPOSE:To obtain polymer particles having a narrow molecular weight and composition distribution, excellent powder properties, by copolymerizing an olefin in the presence of a catalyst formed from a specific solid catalyst component and (halogenated) aluminoxane. CONSTITUTION:An olefin is (co)polymerized in the presence of a catalyst formed from (A) a solid catalyst component carrying a compound of a group IVB transition metal of the periodic table, e.g. bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium monochloride monohydride, etc., on a porous inorganic oxide carrier, e.g. SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, etc., treated with an aluminoxane, e.g. a compound expressed by formula I or II (R<5> is hydrocarbon group; a is 0-100), etc., and (B) an aluminoxane or halogenated aluminoxane, e.g. a compound expressed by formula I or II (a is 2-50), formula III or IV (R<7> is hydrocarbon; X is halogen; R<8> is hydrocarbon or halogen; e is 1-40 and d+e is 4-50). |
