The double piston assembly (17) with a central stalk (18) is free to slide in a cylinder (2). Each end of the cylinder has an enclosing head (3) and is provided with inlet and outlet ports and valves (5,6). Electromagnetic bobbins (7) encircle the cylinder at either end, and are connected to a direct current supply. External switching arrangements energise the bobbins in alternation. In action, the energised bobbin (7) attracts the piston (17) which, moving in the cylinder (2), compresses its contents beneath the head (3) for delivery through a port (6). The cycle then continues as the second bobbin is energised, the piston moving in the other direction to initiate delivery via the port at the opposite end. ADVANTAGE - Eliminates need for crank, connecting rod, and shaft. Provides quieter running than internal combustion system.
