The gear unit for a driven ground working machine such as a rotating harrow has at least one reversing gear assembly (41,42,38) in order to change the direction of rotation. This reversing gear wheel assembly comprises two main wheels (41,42) and a reversing wheel (38). The main wheels can be coupled to the gear shafts but cannot mesh with each other, whilst the reversing wheel meshes with the two main wheels. The bearings for the reversing wheel are pref. set in the main gear housing in the lid.
