Silylated aromatic imides are produced by reacting aromatic imides with polysilanes i.p.o. a transition metal catalyst (e.g. tetrakis triphenylphosphine palladium). The silylated compounds and corresponding disiloxanes are useful as thermally resistant adhesion promoters.
