Process and device for the winding and transverse cutting of a web material

The invention relates to a process for the winding and transverse cutting of a continuously conveyed, full-width guided web material at the discharge end of a web-material treatment machine and a treatment machine for carrying out this process. In the process, the web material is wound on a winding core whilst being supported on a pressing roll and, when the reel is complete, the winding core is pivoted away and at the same time a new winding core is supplied, the web material is cut transversely between the completed reel and the supplied new winding core and the machine end of the web material is wound onto the new winding core. The reel change and the transverse cutting of the web material are carried out at a rate of between approximately 10 and 60 m/min in the case of tightly tensioned web material, so that a largely distortion-free and neat cutting can be carried out.
