The piece of seating furniture, preferably in the form of a piece of upholstered furniture, has a base (10) which is equipped with a seat part (16) and a back (14), can be placed on a standing area (12) and carries a leg rest (18, 20) which is articulated in the front region and is pivotable between a limit position in which it is folded out substantially in alignment with the seat part and a limit position in which it is folded in downwards at least partly under the seat part. The leg rest consists of a thigh part (18) articulated on the base (10), and of a foot part (20) articulated on the thigh part (18). Thigh part (18) and foot part (20) can be folded in and out into two limit positions by means of driving and transmission means (22, 24, 26, 28, 30) coupled to one another. <IMAGE>
