The main or central stand has two legs (13, 14) which can be pivoted around a spindle (8, 9) which is aligned transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the motorcycle, are arranged at a distance from each other and can be pivoted from an essentially horizontal rest position beyond their vertical position into an upright support position in which they are held against a stop by the supported weight of the motorcycle. In order to facilitate the jacking up of the motorcycle, it is envisaged that the two legs (13, 14) be pivotable independently of each other into the support position and that the two legs (13, 14) be connected to each other by an elastic element (30) which after one leg (13) has been pivoted into the support position transmits the pivoting movement to the other leg (14) so that the latter likewise passes into the support position when the motorcycle has been raised up onto the leg (13). <IMAGE>
