The insertion openings in the plug socket are designed such that the corresponding pins in the plug fit only into the openings which are provided, to be precise such that the live positive pole goes only to the switch of the electrical appliance. In consequence, accidents, fatal accidents and fires can be prevented, as occurred often enough in the past.
