摘要 PURPOSE:To switch a multicore optical fiber at a time and to perform the switching faster than switching by an optical connector by combining the principle of 'lever' with a guide pin structure for positioning in the switching operation. CONSTITUTION:The positioning after the switching operation for the switching of an optical switch utilizes a guide pin 14 for high-accuracy positioning which is used for the multicore optical connector, the 'lever' includes the guide pin 14 as its fulcrum consists of a movable plug 13 and the guide pin 14, and multicore optical fibers 1 are arranged in array at an arm part which is at short distance from the fulcrum. Then, a movable ferrule is moved by using an arm part which is at long distance from the fulcrum to perform the positioning at the same time. Further, a refractive index matching agent may be interposed between the 1st and the 2nd plugs 12 and 13 so as to decrease the optical connection loss of the switching, and the refractive matching agent is charged in a space 24 in this case. Consequently, every 5-10 cores can be switched faster than optical fibers are switched by the optical connector.
