<p>N-(2-bis(1-methyl ethyl)amino) ethyl 2-oxo 1-pyrididine acetamide (I) is made by (a) reacting glycine ethyl ester with N,N-diisopropyl 1,2-ethane diamine in ethanol, acetonitrile or formamide to obtain N-(2-bis(1-methyl ethyl) amino)glycine amide; (b) This is treated with a 4-halo butanoic acid chloride, e.g. the 4-chloro or 4-bromo deriv.in the presence of an organic base e.g. triethylamine or pyridine to obtain a 4-halo diamide; and (c) cyclised to form a pyrrolidone ring and obtain (I) as the hydrochloride.</p> |
