PURPOSE:To enhance electrifiability and its stability and to obtain a good image free from fog and attachment of a carrier by surface treating a binder type carrier with a specified coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:The binder type carrier is surface treated with the binder type carrier represented by formula I in which R<1> is alkyl substituted by 1-3C group; R<2> is methyl; R<3> is 1-3C alkylene; X is a group having at the terminal a polar group selected from a group consisting of gamma-glycidoxy and -SH residues; each of l and n is an integer of 1-3; m is 0 or 1; and l+m+n=4, and a compound represented by formula II in which M is Si or Ti; R<4> is alkoxy, acetoxy, or halogen; R<5> is a group having at the terminal a hydrophobic group of a specified vinyl or phenyl group; and each of x and y is a positive integer and their sum is 4 or 6. |
