In a container (1) for receiving a medium which is subjected to temperature changes, having a container part which forms an opening (3) which is surrounded by a flange and is closed by a lid (4) attached to the flange (6) with interposition of a seal (15), a cup-shaped insert (20), having thermal insulating properties relative to the medium, is provided in the region of the opening (3), which insert runs around the edge of the opening and opens out into the interior of the container (1).
