PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of hunting and improve the drive feeling by judging the driving power at the speed change stage in the up-shift and prohibiting the up-shift when the driving power necessary for the up-shift is not obtained. CONSTITUTION:The electronic control means of a speed controller is equipped with a microcomputer CPU, which is equipped with an automatic speed change control means which controls the speed change with the speed change stages corresponding to the car speed or revolution speed output and engine load or throttle opening degree and a constant speed traveling control means which performs control so as to support a prescribed set car speed by controlling the opening degree of a throttle. In this case, the driving power at the speed change stage in the up-shift from the speed change stage at present is judged, and when the driving power necessary for the up-shift is not obtained, control is performed so as to prohibit the up-shift. Therefore, the generation of hunting can be prevented, and the comfortable drive feeling can be obtained. |
