<p>PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal color printer which can provide a clear color image, by differentiating respective incident angles to a liquid crystal shutter and varying the transmission paths of the light of respective color through a liquid crystal layer each other. CONSTITUTION:In a liquid crystal shutter 3, a liquid crystal layer 3a having predetermined thickness (d0) is sandwiched by glass substrates 3b, 3b and polarizing plates 3c, 3c, and electrodes 3d(R), 3d(B), 3d(G) are arranged corresponding to the transmitting positions of red, blue and green (R, B, G) light. Light of each color is transmitted or blocked through control of voltage being applied onto each electrode so as to make an exposure control of each color on a photosensitive member 4 disposed at the post stage of the liquid crystal shutter 3. The light transmission rate or blocking rate of the liquid crystal shutter depends on a product d.DELTAn, where (d) is the thickness of the liquid crystal (d0 minus the thickness of the electrode) and DELTAn is anisotropy of refractive index of the liquid crystal. Incident angles of R, B, G light to the liquid crystal shutter 3 are set such that the transmission paths dR, dB, dG of the light of respective color will provide an optimal d.DELTAn value for the light of respective colors so as to suppress the dispersion of wavelength of respective color as low as possible, thus providing a clear color image on the photosensitive member 4.</p> |
