PURPOSE:To enhance exposure temperature dependency and development temperature dependency of a near infrared sensitive material by incorporating an iridium salt in a silver halide emulsion specified in a face (100)/face (111) ratio. CONSTITUTION:At least one of silver halide emulsion layers contains the silver halide grains having a face (100)/face (111) ratio of >=1, preferably, >=2, and an iridium ion, such as hexachloroiridium (III) salt, in an amount of 10<-8>-10<-5>mol per mol of silver halide, and this layer is spectrally sensitized to infrared rays by a tricarbocyanine dye and/or a dicarbocyanine dye having a 4-quinoline ring. If the content of the iridium ions is less than said range, the exposure temperature dependency and development temperature dependency can not be improved and if over it, desensitization in the infrared region occurs. |
