PURPOSE:To eliminate the formation of air bubbles and to form a uniform film thickness by sealing a part which is placed inside a base drum and apart from its end surface with a plastic-made internal lid whose external diameter is nearly equal to the internal diameter of the drum, and preventing a coating film from sticking on the drum internal surface owing to coating liquid reaching the drum internal surface. CONSTITUTION:The part which is placed inside the photosensitive base drum 1 and distant from the end surface is sealed with the plastic-made internal lid 4 whose external diameter is nearly equal to the internal diameter of the drum. Then, the base drum 1 is gripped by a drum gripping of the drum. Then, the base drum 1 is gripped by a drum gripping tool 5 fitted to a fixed member 6 and a male screw rod 8 is rotated by a control circuit 12 and a motor 10 to move up and down the base drum 1 to be coated through a female screw 7, thereby performing a dipping and coating process. Consequently, a coating film is prevented from sticking owing to the coating liquid 3 reaching the internal surface of the base drum 1, so the confined air decreases in volume and there is no an increase in volume large enough to form air bubbles owing to the slight temperature difference between the coating liquid 3 and atomospheric air, thereby obtaining the uniform film thickness without generating an irregularity of the coating surface owing to fluctuations of the surface of the coating liquid in the middle of elevation. |
