Signal processing distortion measurement esp. in audio and TV system

An input device generates a signal contg. a distortion component which is passed to a signal processing stage. A modulation controller determines the average magnitude of the distortion component during a number of short intervals repeated synchronously with the input signal. The distortion component is separated from the input signal. - The modulation controller contains the window generator, which produces time windows of defined duration and the stage which extracts a synchronisation signal component from the input signal. This induces a response in the window generator to synchronise time window generation.
