<p>PURPOSE:To provide stabilization at a high temp. to orientation films by coating a mixture composed of a horizontal orientation treating agent and perpendicular orientation treating agent consisting of high-polymer org. resins on substrate surfaces, subjecting the coatings to a heating treatment to obtain the orientation films and rubbing the surfaces of such orientation films. CONSTITUTION:'NESA(R)' films are formed on the surfaces of the substrates 2, 3 and are etched to form plural pieces of band-shaped transparent electrodes 4, 5. A soln. prepd. by mixing polyimide varnish LX-1400 and monobasic chromium complex FC-233A at 30:1 mixing ratio is spin-coated onto the surfaces thereof and is then subjected to the heating treatment for one hour at 270 deg.C to form the orientation films. The orientation films are further rubbed in a specified direction and the substrates 2, 3 are so disposed at 10mum spacing that the rubbing directions of the orientation treated films 6, 7 are at 0 deg. angle. The circumference thereof is stuck by a sealant 9, and 'ZLI-1565(R)' is sealed as a liquid crystal 8 between the substrates 2 and 3. A sealing port is sealed by a UV curing resin to form a liquid crystal element 1. The oblique orientation which is stable even at a high temp. and is free from a change in the tilt angle with age is thereby obtd.</p> |
