The support is intended for holding reading, writing or drawing material in inclined position on a horizontal table surface. It comprises a rigid impact and scratch-resistant transparent plastic plate to form a rectangular support surface is at its upper edge provided with an integral upwardly open U-section portion to rest on the table whilst a raised stop rail is arranged at the lower edge. The U-section portion may be used to hold a book in a near-upright position and may contain compartments for pencils, etc. The support may consist of acrylic plastic or poly-allyl carbonate. A tubular light may be fitted on the underside against the U-section.
